The school system is so stupid. We should not have snow on our make up snow day when we didnt even have snow on our snow day. IT IS STUPID. It is like a sign that we shouldnt have school today.

Its frkn ironic how were havin' a snow make up day on a holiday while its SNOWIN'. Its also ironic how Va Beach is the only area makin' up a school day, while its SNOWING.

Avery Torres's Thesis on Ironic Adaptibility.

Irony is a very interesting concept. Irony is excepted into society, as somewhat interesting, as a weird coincedence, unless it negatively effects the ones who are intertwined in the irony. On 2/16/08 students in the Va Beach School District had to make up a snowday, on which they did not have snow, on president's day, on which they did have snow. Responses such as, "I hate weather" and, "IT IS STUPID," shows how others are upset on having to make up a day, in which they did not have work. Although why are they complaining? They have the more favorable outcome, because not only they got a surprising day off, that made these same kids smile, but also that now the teachers schedules are messed up, and kids have an extra day to do what they might of not done on the day they were suppose to. These students are mainly upset just because they have to come to school on a day when they usually don't have to, but because not many students show up anyway, as well as because we have 2 of the same days in a row, teachers will not planned a full learning lesson that they would usually have, and you might get a little extra done, simotaneously not doing much work in these classes. So I don't see why these kids are complaining. The day wasn't the only thing ironic, i also believe that kids complaining on an outcome that is more in their favor is ironic, and also ironic because these are the same students that thing irony is an interesting concept. Don't hate becuase something seems bad, think about the positive outcome of the situation, before you open your mouth.

How is today ironic? Simply because we are making up a snowless snowday we had in the past even though it is a holiday and there's snow on the ground today.. Now thats ironic!!

Okay Avery...

You have to look at the bigger picture, it's ironic. It's not that everyone is complaining, but rather people are upset about the outcome. Two A days in a row- is not fun for anyone. Especially when you have 4 hard classes. I'm not saying anything bad about your response, but everyone has a right to say what they want! So, I'm saying, today is a pointless day at school.

i think it was ironic because we had a snow day on the day of the inauguration, and their was no snow. However on Presidents day there was snow, and we had to make the day up.

Basically, the weather people LIE.
and the superintendent doesn't know how to make a good decisionnn.
HELLO MR. MAN:
SNOW = NO SCHOOL
NO SNOW = REGULAR DAY

is it really that hard?

i demand a day off to make up for the actual
anow day which we were so sadly deprived of :(

The Superintendent really can't win for losing, can he? First he cancels school for snow. This gives students a snow day, and then all the kids are happy. No, they aren't. Why is that, you may ask. It's because there was...NO. SNOW. AT. ALL. ANYWHERE. Ergo, we missed a whole day for nothing.
And how does he make it up? He schedules the make-up for the ficticious snow day for Febrary 16. Now, herein lies the irony. It snowed, yet we still had school. Now it wouldn't be so bad, but then it snowed, YET AGAIN, on March 2. Was school canceled? No. Should it have been? Yes.
What have learned? That decisions probably shouldn't be left in the hands of the Super.

What I don't understand is why we don't have built-in snow days. As most Virginia residents are aware, the weather is constantly changing here. It is simply unpredictable.
Example: It was snowing at the beginning of the week, but now the temperature could reach 75 degrees today!

We don't live on the equator or anything. Snow is possible.

OH! And also...
Why in the world did we have a two hour delay on that day when we actually had snow? The temperature continued to drop, causing ice to form on the roads, making the roads more dangerous for our lovely little school buses to transport children on.

Comforting, isn't it?

Devin Oulds,
I think the school system is all jacked up. I mean they issue a snowday to us when it didnt even snow! And then make us make it up on a day that it actually snowed! Its not our fault they gave us a free day off, so we shouldnt have needed to make it up. Maybe they should start watching the weather channel more often. Now i would call that ironic!
